Growing Vertical
or, Balancing the Slats!
Welcome to the Family Shutters!
When my husband Richard and I started Just Blinds over 12 years ago; it was with all zest and zeal we believed was needed to build a brand with substance. Just Blinds is a family-owned business run by family. We have been manufacturing and fitting a wide range of exceptional luxury window covering solutions from blinds and shutters to curtains and awnings for thousands of customers for over a decade and we haven’t stopped building.
We care about people, about quality and about balance. One of the major challenges of building something substantial is balance. Whether you are growing a lucrative brand or a beautiful family, it’s amazing when you are able to juggle both well. Our passion for our family, our business, our team, customers and community has driven us to create the balance that allows us to keep pouring our best into what we do.
When our business was younger, we spent all our waking hours building Just Blinds, serving hundreds and thousands of families and businesses without taking breaks. By the time our own family began to grow with the addition of our two amazing miracles Lucas, 6 and Louis, 3; it became clear that balance needed to become a priority for us.
These days we do what we can, taking regular weekend breaks to explore the farmlands and nature reserves in Hoo, Ashen and the great safari park in the Midlands. When we aren’t working to give you exceptional service; we can be found trailing nature parks and farms, camping in the great outdoors with our nature-lover Lucas and our animal whisperer Louis.
They in turn love to get their little hands busy building along with us as best as they can. We are grateful to be able to include them in the amazing work we do. We are hopeful that they would grow to see the business as a part of them, a legacy rather than as something that keeps us apart.
Just Blinds as a family continues to thrive and strive for excellence and balance. With our newsletters we hope to continue to share our journey, learnings and wins with you our amazing customers.
The Shade Corner – How to Child-Proof Your Blinds
Following guidance by the BBSA Make it Safe campaigns, we are sharing these useful tips on how to ensure your shutter and blind fittings are safe for your children and pets. The great thing is most of them don’t require you to spend a penny. You can begin to take some simple steps now to child-proof your blinds. You can start by taking simple measures to keep all chains and cords out of the reach of your children and pets.
Our top tips
Use cord cleats
Shorten the length of the cords
Place the joiners correctly
Avoid creating loops
Replace faulty mechanisms
Keep cords separate
Install cord shrouds
Move beds away from windows
Consider moving tall objects away from windows to dissuade climbing and reaching
The simple addition of simple and affordable devices like chain tensioners, wall connectors, shrouds and cleats can be a great help. At Just Blinds most of our new fittings are motorised which diminish the safety risk by a huge margin. If you are still concerned about the safety of your shutters or blinds, give us a ring and we can arrange for one of our home consultants to come round and give you a free assessment as well as some real-time tips and tricks.
Charity Shade – Plant a Tree with Us
Giving back to our community is a privilege. Being a part of nature conservation even more so. At Just Blinds we recognise that we are huge beneficiaries of mother nature. This is why we are glad to partner with the National Trust to support their aim to plant 20 million trees by 2030.
With every order from our variety of our window and skylight shutters or blinds; you too can partner with the National Trust Plant a Tree fund. Let’s do our bit to restore vibrant green spaces to woodlands, reserves, country-sides and parks. Each tree will breathe some life into our world, provide amazing shade (no pun intended) and help us tackle climate change together.
Blinding Awards
At Just Blinds we are all about community and are extremely honoured and proud to be the recipients for the MP’s “Local Business of the Year” award two years in a row here in Norton Canes, Staffs. It’s one thing to give ourselves a pat on the back for the incredible work we do. Wink! But even more heart-warming is to be recognised by others for putting in our best in service to our patrons.
For another blinding win, we were recently awarded for “Most Impressive Growth” by the National Entrepreneurs Awards. Our very own, Clare Gill warmly received the award presented by award winning comedian, Britain’s Got Talent host David Walliams. We are still reeling from the thrill.

Looking Through the Slats
The Just Blinds team and family spotlight
Each edition of “Going Vertical” will introduce you to a member of the Just Blinds Family. We cannot overstate how much we value our team. Our team makes the difference in helping us stand out.
Meet Carly Stewart-Doe, Carly joined the team in 2020 as a customer service advisor. With over 16 years of customer service experience, Carly’s people skills are excellent. Carly takes control of the home consultant’s diary so will be the first person you speak to when it comes to booking your appointment and is also the person who will guide you through the process before and when you place an order with us.
Carly is mother to a lovely son Harry 8, who makes us all proud as a player for the West Bromwich Albion team. We can already tell he’ll be bringing us a lot of pride and joy for seasons to come as a promising young player. When she’s not beaming with pride about Harry, she’s trading endless stories on the new love of her life, Ronaldo aka Ronnie, her super cute pet rabbit. As you can tell the love for footie runs in the family…
